1. What is a World view
A) A worldview is when you see the world through all peoples eyes. To put it more simply when you think about all others around you.
B) A worldview is the way you perceive the world
2. Does everyone have a world view
A) I think people who think only for themselves have smaller world views. The more selfish you are the smaller your view is
B) I think that every person sees the world in a completely different way. Everyone has one.
3. Name at least one worldview of which you are aware?
A) There are multiple world views depending on the characteristics of the people who’s view it is
B) I think there are several world views. Where one person would say the world is lost another finds hope. Where one person sees a place to take from another finds a way to share.
4.What is your (forming) worldview
My world view alters during my mood. Most of the time I believe human beings are selfish people. When I’m in a really bad mood I think of humans as a cancer slowly killing the world. However I believe that if different choices were taken we could live in a greater world.

I have a point about the fourth question: what is your forming worldview?
ReplyDeleteI believe that, if you have a worldview, your worldview will always continue to change and become a different worldview. I believe your worldview is changed mostly by two factors-emotion and discoveries. Emotion may change your worldview, changing your ideas with positive and negative energies. For example, if you are happy, then your worldview will become more positive, whereas sadness or anger will negatively affect you and your worldview. Then, discoveries, which lead to more knowledge, can affect your view of the world. For example, I will use a video game to represent your worldview on a smaller scale. Your friends hate this particular video game, but you have different tastes than them, and you have never tried it. When you try it, you find that you like it. This changes your views about the video game, from a negative to a positive view. Larger scale discoveries (that probably do not include video games) would probably or inevitably change your worldview.
Aragorn:
ReplyDeleteYour comment in the beginning assumes our minds are ruled solely by our emotions. I would contend with this premise. At the end you offer an example that may or may not involve emotion at all. I can easily decide I like a video game without having any particular feeling about it. Your thoughts?
Note how I say: I believe your worldview is changed MOSTLY by two factors. I believe that both emotion and discoveries can change your worldviews. However, there are probably many other factors that can affect your worldview.
ReplyDeleteI believe that our worldview is ruled by many factors, but our mind is not. While emotion can majorly affect the status of your mind, your mind is ruled by you, and you can choose whether you will allow these emotions and other factors to get to your mind.
About the video game, I did not think about my example that much, next time I will think of something better.
I agree with Elijah
ReplyDeleteHuman beings are just like any other disease, like germs. We are taking hold of one big healthy thing (earth) and killing it.
But I think that you can view that (worldview) two different ways:
1. Like elijah said, view it the way that human beings are slowly killing Earth, taking advantage of its plenties.
2. You can view it from the human view, thinking that the Earth is there for the purpose to take it over and mold it to resemble what YOU want it to resemble. Like a piece of clay being modeled into the sculpture of your choice.
This ties in with Elijah's last statement, about how we could make choices to make a greater world. But what is a greater world. Again, we could say that, with view number one above, a greater world is one NOT being so taken over by humans.
Or, as in view number two, we can say that a greater world is one more modeled after what a certain person wants it to be. A greater world is not one overall view for everyone.
Aragorn:
ReplyDeleteGood explanation of your first comments. I did not read them as carefully as I should have. I really like your point about emotions being capable of significantly affecting the mind, but that our minds are ruled by us. Well done.
Alright, I have a better example- myself/my brother.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was around eight years old, I thought the world was being unfair to me. For example, my family lives in a one story house in the mountains. It seems like a small shack when your best friend has a seven story mansion with two elevators. Little did I know that, in other, not-so-lucky places in the world, my house would have been heaven to the people who did not get the chance to live in a great house. So, when I went to school one day and found about these poor people who lived on the streets, I could realize my luck and suddenly found that the grass looked just a bit greener, the flowers more colorful, and my house a bit bigger and comfier.
My brother is around that age right now, and he is hugely jealous as some of his friends. While we (only) have a Wii, DS, iTouch, and a computer, he does not realize that enough happiness can be acquired from four video game consoles. So, when he comes home from a friend's house, he is still in awe of the sight of 7-10 video consoles stacked up next to his friend's TV. I had this problem too, due to the fact that one of my good friends has a father who works with Nintendo and her mother works at Dreamworks. Once again, after I was shown the fortune of having ONLY four game consoles, that problem was not as big of a problem for me. Soon, my brother will realize that too.
Aragorn:
ReplyDeleteIt seems like you're saying that your experience impacted your worldview, which was your original point. And, as you say, emotion was involved since you were angry. I would think it strange for a youth in our culture NOT to experience emotion in a situation like this. Good example.
Because, for example, when you're sad the world seems like it hates you, when you're angry the world seems like a traitor, and when you're happy the world becomes brighter.
ReplyDeleteI think my world views are hard to explain so here it is:
ReplyDeleteall the a's and all the b's go together but a's and b's aren't conected
I think that we are destroying this earth and overpopulating it and filling it with trash. When I'm in a better mood, I may have a different opinion.
